Jennie Messenger
"Collins, OH: Mrs Jennie MESSENGER, 74, wife of Reverend Clarence J. MESSENGER, died Thursday in her Townsend Center home after a long illness. She was born in Wakeman, OH, attended school there & took post graduate work in Iowa. In 1885, she was married to the Reverend Messenger, a Methodist minister & in his many charges over the country, she was always active in church & Sunday school work & other community activities. She was a member of Halcyon Chapter No. 349, Order of the Eastern Star. The Reverend & Mrs. Messenger retired from active service for the Methodist Church in 1931 & returned to their childhood home in Huron County, OH. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Dr. Edward Messenger, Calgary, Alberta, Canada & Dr. H.F. Messenger, Edmonton, Alberta Canada & one brother, Charles AUSTIN of Wakeman, OH." Buried at Wakeman Township Cemetery
Note: Matilda Jane "Jennie" Austin was born 26 Nov 1866 at Wakeman, OH, the daughter of Agnes ROWLAND & Julius AUSTIN. She married Clarence J. Messenger on 28 Jun 1885 at Wakeman, OH. She died at Collins, OH on 22 May 1941 of cardiac decompensation, angina pectoris & arteriosclerosis at the age of 75.
