JIM M. ONEY
GREENWICH – Jim M. Oney, 88, rural Greenwich, died Sunday afternoon at Willard Area Hospital.
Mr. Oney was a native of Kentucky, but lived in the Greenwich area 60 years. He was a retired railroader and farmer.
He is survived by his wife Ilant; a daughter, Mrs. Ella Hafer, of Shelby; seven sons, Fred, Willard, Joe, Charlie, Burton, and Virgil, all of Greenwich, and Henry, of California; one stepson, Claude Smith of Indiana; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Leonard Hicks and Mrs. Buford Shepherd, both of Indiana, Mrs. Silas Shepherd, and Mrs. Monroe Vanderpool, both of Kentucky; 47 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Oney’s first wife Jane died in 1961 and a son John, died in 1973.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Myers Funeral Home, Greenwich, with the Rev. James Gleam, of First Baptist Church, Greenwich, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwich Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home.
