Hugh Hazlett


HUGH HAZLETT, among the prominent citizens of Jefferson county during the second and third quarters of the present century, was Hugh Hazlett, a native of Pennsylvania, who came to Ohio in 1828 and settled on a farm in Island Creek township in the spring of 1829. There he remained and was occupied in farming until his death in October 1874. Before coming to Ohio he was married to Nancy Starr, by whom he has three children, one of whom survives. This wife dying, he was subsequently united to Ann Tall of Brooke county, W. Va. who died in 1846 leaving four children.
