Dorothey Mayhew was the daughter of Mabel Keys Mayhew and George Mayhew. Kenneth Keenan was the step-son of Charles Roy Keys, who married his mother Mabel Barr in 1917 in Steubenville. Mabel Keys Mayhew is the sister of Charles Roy Keys, and these kids were raised as cousins.

Cause of death influenza, date of internment April 29, 1939. Her parents were Robert Hoover and Kathryne Johnson Hoover,early residents of Steubenville.

Merrill Leslie Keenan was born exactly one year later after the marriage of Thomas and Mabel Keenan. His birthday was May 15, 1907. He died three years later of ruptured intestines and is buried in the Union Cemetery, Steubenville.The date of his internment is August 11, 1910.

This house, at 331 South Seventh Street has been around a long time. This was taken in early thirties. Many of the people I have sent you in pictures have lived and died in this house, and it still exists today.

Thomas James Keenan was born March 19, 1884 in Wheeling, West Virginia. He came to live in Steubenville Ohio and worked at Riverside Tin Mill. He married Mabel Barr on May 15, 1906. He had two children by this marriage, a Merrill Leslie Keenan , born May 15, 1907, and Kenneth Hannan Keenan, September 16, 1913. The couple lived at 331 South Seventh Street, until their divorce in January 4,1915.Thomas Keenan died April 6,1961 in Martins Ferry, Ohio. He is buried in Riverside Cemetery.

Robert B. Barr was born August 22, 1902 in Steubenville. He was the son of Valerie Lowmiller and John Barr. He is the grandson of Maryann Purviance Lowmiller and David Lowmiller. He was brother to Mabel Barr (Mrs. C.R. Keys) Susie Barr ( Mrs David WIlson) Oscar and Harry Barr.

Dr Thomas Harlan Purviance was born June 15, 1814 in Belmont county, Ohio. His father was Thomas Purviance born July 10, 1779 and his mother was Mary Dix(Dicks) born August 1783. He married Sarah Maxson October 26, 1836, in Jefferson County, Ohio. He was a teacher, then went on to study medicine and become a doctor. The couple had seven children. 1. Joseph Franklin Purviance, born August 27, 1836, 2. Nathan Maxson Purviance, born July 12, 1839, 3. Mary Ann Purviance , born November 9 1841, 4. Thomas Harlan Purviance, born February 13, 1844, 5. Susannah Purviance in 1847, 6. Samuel Thompson Purviance born May 25, 1849, and 7. William A Purviance born January 15, 1853. It is interesting to note that this couples son J. F. Purviance also became a doctor in the city of Steubenville and specialized in patent medicines. Dr. Purviance died February 20, 1891 at his home on North 8th Street, Steubenville, Ohio. Sarah his wife, passed away August 30, 1895 at the home of a son in Steubenville, Ohio. Dr Purviance and Sarah Maxson Purviance are my great, great, great grandparents.

It is unknown if this is Dr Thomas Harlan Purviance or his son Thomas Harlan Purviance. This information and an album of forty one tin types was found in a garage in the state of Washington by Rhonda Hunt. The album contained all Purviance family civil war information and pictures as well as obituaries of that family. Rhonda was their angel and we are very greatfull to her.

Sarah Maxson was born December 9, 1816 in Harrison County, Ohio. She died August 30, 1895 of cholera in Steubenville, Ohio. She was the wife of Dr. Thomas Harlan Purviance of Steubenville, Ohio and is buried in Union Cemetery, of that city.Her father was Nathan Maxson of Shrewsbury, New Jersey, and her mother Susannah Dix or (Dicks) of Maryland. Sarah is the mother of Mary Ann Purviance Lowmiller, (PS this is a tin type and I know it is dark.

Floyd Wilson, son of David Wilson and Susie Barr Wilson, was also the grandson of John Barr and Valerie Vienna Lowmiller Barr. His great grandparents were David Lowmiller and MaryAnn Purviance Lowmiller.
