Edward Carpenter


EDWARD CARPENTER, the oldest son of John Carpenter, in 1801 took a government contract from Steubenville to the Wills Creek crossing of the Zane tract in Guernsey County, where the National Road could be reached, which is now the main county road leading from Steubenville westward. During the progress of his work he entered a quarter section of land in Section 26 of Township 11, range 6, hwere he resided until he died, January 12, 1828. His son, Edward, lived there until March 22, 1882, when he died at the age of eighty years.
