Daughter of Emmett Mac Donald Erwin, Jr.
James Wiiliam Erwin was born in Steubenville Twp. October 25, 1834. He married Ada Ann Baron,born in Steubenville, February 07,1843. They were married May 9, 1866, recorded by Jefferson Co. Probate records. James W. Erwin was the son of James Sheakley Erwin and Eleanor Hill Erwin( daughter of Robert K. Hill, buried in Hill Family Cemetery and Revolutionary War soldier). Eleanor Hill moved to Steubenville Twp. in 1803 at the age of four with her family. James S. Erwin moved from Westmoreland Co. , PA. to Steubenville and lived out the rest of his days there. He died in 1850 and is buried in Hill Family Cemetery, His wife, Eleanor , is also. Their son James William Erwin and his wife Ada are buried in Union Cemetery. J.W. Erwin was a grocer and died at 49 years old on August 22, 1885. Ada died April 03, 1914. They had six children. Jessie Llewellyn Erwin was a single school teacher in Steubenville and a member of the D.A.R. in that town. Their son Emmett MacDonald Erwin lived with his wife Ruby Stokes Erwin in Steubenville and he was a merchant of wallpaper and stationary. They produced my father, Emmett Mac Donald ,Jr. who was born in Steubenville, Ohio on June 11, 1920. He attended school there and graduated from Wells High Class of 1938. He was pictured in a Herald -Star article dated Friday, June 10, 1938 as an honor student having prominent part in commencement. E. M. Erwin went to Carnegie Tech , graduating in Architecture and had a successful practice In Pittsburgh, PA. until retiring six or seven years ago. He and his wife live in Bethel Park and he just celebrated his eightieth birthday, June 11, 2000. Mac, as he is called, still attends high school reunions of the Class of 1938.
