VANDIKE, VANDYKE posted by Stephen J. VanDyke on Monday, March 17, 1997

VANDYKE/VANDIKE; Jefferson Co., Ohio, USA; 1813-1860. I'm looking for information about my gggg-grandfather, Henry VANDYKE/VANDIKE. He came from Fayette Co., Pennsylvania and bought land north of Steubenville in 1813, moved to Athens Co., Ohio around 1860, and died there in 1863. I believe he was born around Philadelphia in 1785. I am also looking for his father, Ferdinand VANDIKE and his mother.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I'll try the link you suggest, since MYERS (plus COOKSON and BALL) is a line I'd like to get into. Mary Hadassah KENNEDY married in 1896, I think, William J. ALEXANDER of Steubenville, and they were my grandparents. They lived at North Fourth Street, at the corner of Logan Place until the High School was built in about 1937, then built a house at Woodlawn and the corner of Roosevelt, on the hill. Caroline married Robert L. PETERSON of Steubenville, and her daughter is Mrs. Clyde Chalfant. My great-grandmother ALEXANDER was a MCKEEVER from Steubenville, and I also have some of those lines which include MCGOWANS and SIMERALS. If you have any suggestions about pursuing the KENNEDY line, I'd be happy to have them.
