Notes for Michael Sunderland: Michael left Maryland, and came to Steubenville, Jefferson Co. Ohio and arrived on 5 Sept. 1814 (Sunderland Family Bible Record) and married 16 Nov. 1821 to Elizabeth Fisher.

Notes for John & Susannah: John was the pioneer in the manufacture of earthern ware in 1806. It was domestic clay , nd the product was a red ware glazed and unglazed. His kiln was located on Market Street near the present crossing of the Panhandle Railroad. (Now the Penn R.R.)

John C. Fisher, died 13 Mar. 1809. His son Thomas Fisher took into partnership a Samuel Tarr. The second enterprise was started on Market Street between Third and High Street. Thomas died shortly after and the pottery work died with him.

John Christopher Fisher, is buried in the Union Cemetery. HIs remains were removed from the old cemetery on South Fourth Street, where presently Grant School now stands in Steubenville, Jeff. Co. Ohio. His wife Susanna (Bratton) Fisher returned to Virginia after his death, and her children had all married. She died in Va. in 1835 or 1837.

The photo named John Christopher Fisher & Susannah Bratton is not correct. I have been shown that it is his son John Eberturt Fisher, Sr. and his wife Jane Hart. Photos of John E Fisher and Jane Hart Fisher are shown below:

Passed over the Silent River

Mrs. Margaret Clifton, widow of the late Theodore W. Clifton, entered into rest at the residence of her son O. P. Clifton, in the sixth ward, on thursday evening, July 19, 1888, at the ripe old ageof 89 years. Mrs. Clifton ws the daughter of Isaac and Margaret Harlan, and was born in 1799, and removed with her parents to this city in 1811. She married Thomas (mistyped, Theodore] W. Clifton in 1831, who preceded her to the spirit land last December, aged 84. One child died infancy and the following six sons and daughters survice her, Isaac, William, Orlando and Mary, wife of George sunderland, of this city, Melissa, wife of Aaron Charnock of New Cumberland, WV, and George, of Marshall Co. WV. She was a noble christian the First M. E . Church for 16 years. Burial services were held from the residence of her son O.P. Clifton, near Wilson's corner, on Saturday afternoon, and were attended by a large circle of relatives and friends.
