Lucas County Chapter, Ohio Genealogical Society
Promoting Genealogy … Supporting Genealogists

Welcome!

The Lucas County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society was established to promote interest in genealogy, and assist genealogists with research through speakers at monthly meetings, articles in the quarterly newsletter, and publication of local records.

Meetings

The Lucas County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society meets the third Saturday of each Month, excluding July, August, and December, at the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library, 325 North Michigan Street, Toledo, OH, at 2:00 PM in the Huntington Meeting Room. All meetings are free and open to the public.

About Lucas County

Lucas County is located in northwest Ohio. It was formed from Wood and Sandusky counties on 20 June 1835 and named for the then current governor, Robert Lucas. The county seat is Toledo. The establishment of Lucas County was part of Ohio's response to Michigan in the 'Toledo War', a dispute between Ohio and Michigan about the location of the Ohio—Michigan border.

Research Requests

Our research committee members will perform genealogical research for a nominal fee. Research is limited to the holdings of the Toledo—Lucas County Public Library. See our research page for complete details.
