Our MeetingsThe society meets the last Thursday of the month at 10:00 am at Morley Library, 184 Phelps St., Painesville, Ohio 44077 (440) 352-3383. There is no meeting in August or December. Gravestone Inscription Readings include stone condition, flagholders, emblems and decorations and placement. The townships are as they were about 1840. Cemetery histories and descriptions have been provided.

History Hall of Lake County, Ohio Fairgrounds, A Biographical Anthologyby Members and Friends of LCGS (Now here in its entirety, except the index.) School Records ProjectOur current project is a huge collection of monthly teacher reports in the 19-teens. A project that can be done at home, we are typing the lists of children, ages and grades. Handwriting is generally very good. Contact the webmaster for referral to the project chair, or join us at a meeting.
Kudos! The LCGS Indexing group placed number 15 our of nearly 700 groups for number of records indexed in the month of May - about 48,000 records! The entire census was indexed in 4 1/2 months, an amazing feat. Congratulations to all who participated. Contact Joy McMullen if you would like to index other records with our group. NaturalizationsAn Alphabetical Abstract of the naturalization petitions from Lake County Probate Court (1860-1906) and Lake County Common Pleas Court (1906-1975). This includes Declarations of Intention and petitions that failed for a variety of reasons. Naturalizations between 1840 and 1860 were done in a variety of courts, which will be abstracted later."LakeLines""Lake Lines," the newsletter of the Society is published quarterly and e-mailed to all members. Article submissions are welcome. Queries for ancestors in Lake County and the immediate surrounding area are free.
