This photograph of the
celebration of the 50th
wedding anniversary of my grandparents, Essie & Scott Limes,
was taken
on Sunday, June
9,
1946. An announcement of their anniversary party was published in
the
Lorain
Journal
on Friday, June 7. Their other children were Tom, Al, and Harry. Essie died on December 28, 1948.
Ernest,
their eldest son, is the gentleman
seated in
the chair on the porch.
Essie and Scott Limes lived at 1234
Ninth
Street in Lorain. Scott Limes lived at the home until his death in 1959 at age
84.
On Friday, May 15, 1959,
he fell down his basement stairs,
presumably
walking down to the only bathroom in the small
home. Later that day
a
neighbor found him lying at the bottom of the stairs. He
died from his
injuries the following day and was buried
next to his wife on May 18 at
Lorain's Elmwood Cemetery.
