Researching and publicizing the history and genealogy of Miami County, Ohio


WELCOME

The MCHGS is one of nine historical/genealogical societies in Miami County, each of which has a different primary sphere of interest. We conduct an annual genealogical workshop and present bi-monthly programs on items of historical and genealogical interest related to the whole county. The MCHGS is a chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and offers certification to those members who have ancestors who were early settlers or who were in the Civil War, and makes an annual Heritage Award to a county citizen whom the Society considers to have made an outstanding historical or civic contribution.

The Website describes where our Society came from; upcoming activities; the awards cited above, along with requirements and application procedures; lists sources around the area for genealogical and historical information; contains a selected list of historical societies and museums; and occasionally presents a miscellaneous item or two of area historical or genealogical interest.
