The Miami County Historical & Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote genealogical research and to foster a public awareness of the development and heritage of this area. There are Society members around the country, with about 60 in Miami County and the surrounding area. we are one of nine historical and genealogical societies in Miami County, each of which has a different primary sphere of interest.

The Website includes a description of the history and operation of the Society and upcoming activities, and contains a list of government and non-government sources of genealogical and historical information around the area. Requirements and application procedures for Society Lineage Awards are discussed. And there is a selected list of area historical societies and museums, along with a miscellaneous item or two of area historical and/or genealogical or just general interest.




Notice

The MCHGS announces its new lineage certificate, the Randolph Freedmen. This certificate is available to any MCHGS member who can prove direct descent from a former Randolph slave listed on the manumission papers in the will of John Randolph of Roanoke Plantation, Charlotte County VA, and who arrived in Ohio after the will's settlement in 1846.
