Rebecca Torsell will be the speaker.

Rebecca is currently serving her second year in the Historic Preservation Corps (AmeriCorps Program), which is performing architectural surveys in Piqua. This year her new survey project will take her to the south end of Piqua with a focus on houses built by early German immigrants and later industrial buildings and associated worker housing.

She earned an MS in Historic Preservation at Eastern Michigan University and an AAS in Building Preservation/Restoration from Belmont College. Her experiences in preservation are diverse and have taken her from Sydney, Australia performing research on recovered shipwreck artifacts to the mountains of Colorado restoring old mining camps. Last year Rebecca's survey project included 152 intensive level architectural surveys and Ohio Historic Inventories.

Rebecca will discuss available resources and recommended procedures for determining likely dates of construction, changes and alterations that have taken place to your house over time, and identifying the house type and/or style. The program will also discuss how to uncover the original owner and/or builder of your home as well as occupancy. Bring pictures of your home and questions you might have.
