The red device hanging from the board wall is designed for hitching 3 horses to a load (a wagon, mower, road scraper, etc.). While most farm tasks required a team of two horses, some heavy jobs could require three or more. The heavy member with the hook that allows the rig to hang from the wall is the member that is attached to the load. At the right end of this heavy member is a second member that in turn connects to two single trees. At the left end of the heavy member is attached a third single tree. One horse is hitched to each of the three single trees.
