Thrashing-time near Sardis, Ohio – The Thrashing Machine
This metal monster of belts, shakers, fans and flails could hungrily digest an entire field of shocked wheat or rye or oats in just a few hours. Keeping it fed took a crew of several hard-working men and women. The women usually undertook the difficult job of providing food and water to the thrashing crew.
