Elizabeth Smith Eichenauer was born in Hopewell Township, Mercer County, Ohio February 10, 1849, and suddenly and quietly passed away Thursday, June 16th 1929. Her age was eighty years three months and twenty seven days. She was united in holy wedlock with Tobias Eichenauer February 24, 1874. For over 55 years she and her husband enjoyed the blessing of a happy married life together. They were blessed with eight sons and two daughters- one daughter and two sons preceeded her in death many years ago. When she was but twelve years old she gave her heart to the Lord and united with the Hope Evangelical Church remaining true to the Lord and her church until her demise. She was converted under the ministry of the sainted Rev George Hertel. Of her it can truthfully be said she was a jewel in the home and in the community. Her husband and the children dearly loved her and everyone who knew her respected her. In the Christian life she was a potential influence for good. All of her children were converted and were active members of the Hope Evangelical Church. Thus they follow the excellent example of Christian service set by their parents. For many years she had been ailing in health, but was able to do her general work until last Thursday when her soul tactfully took its flight to the spiritual realms above. She was a sister of the Rev JE Smith of Oregon.

She leaves the following six sons and one daughter; Frank, William, Daniel, Roy, Benjamin and Richard and Mrs TJ Bice all of Hopewell Township, Mercer County, Ohio. Besides these there are 21 grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Funeral services were at Hope Evangelical Church and burial in the Buck Cemetery.
