Those of us who had ancestors from Miami and Darke counties working at the Railroad Roundhouse in Bradford, Ohio were often given "nicknames" conensurate with the type of JOB they performed. The listing below was taken from the Book "Railroading in Bradford" written in Scott Trossel, a Miami County native. The below may have been one of your ancestors if they lived near Bradford. It is known that a person living 20-25 miles from Bradford...would "ride the rails" to get to and from work. Information dated: early 1900's. Hope someone "other than me" connects with this list below. Thomas Franklin "Hoggie" Clark is in my family line.
Keystone gave us one other comical note about the daily routine of the railroaders. On the railroad, most carried nicknames; here, are a number of the fellows by nickname and slang job title.
