First Families of Montgomery County, Ohio

First Families of Montgomery County was formed to identify and honor our pioneer ancestors. Any member of the Montgomery County Chapter OGS, who is a direct descendent of an individual who settled in the area once defined as Montgomery County, Ohio before December 31, 1830, may become a member of the First Families of Montgomery County, Ohio upon the approval of the application with proof of such descent and the payment of a $10.00 application fee.

Eligibility and Requirements for First Families



These awards were first made in 1982. Since that time, including our 2006 inductees, 93 presentations have been made. The following link displays a list of all the names of the pioneers who have been documented through the First Families of Montgomery County program. The pioneer's surname, given name, and the year established in Montgomery County are included.

The Montgomery County Chapter OGS through the First Families of Montgomery County Committee, consisting of Diane Dean, Paul Kraemer, Shirley Mikesell, Bob Reemelin, and Charlie Raine, recognized its 2008 recipients at the June 14th meeting. Recipients of this year’s awards were:
