How To Donate Materials To This Site

Everything on this site has been graciously transcribed and donated for use on this website by visiting researchers and or myself or prior webmasters. We would not exist without YOUR help! If you have family from this county, please consider donating your family information to us so that we can pass it along to others. If you have an interest in a specific township and would like to adopt it, see the Muskingum County, Ohio Township Project page and the "How to Adopt a Township" page for more information. We welcome any and all donations, but are specificially looking for the following:

Census Schedules - *1790 to 1920 (by Township)
Cemetery Records
Wills and Letters of Administration
Bible Records
Biographical Sketches of Muskingum Families
Descendant Trees and Charts
History by County or Township
Photographs of Historic Persons, Places or Buildings
Tombstone Photographs
Obituary Notices
Marriage Records
Church Records

and anything that might be of interest to another researcher.
*(Census records before 1810 are either compilations of tax lists and other lists or from the 1790 census for the northwest territories.)

What to Send and Where to Send It

You may send any materials directly to me. Text files attached to an email work best. If you do not know how to send an attachment, then cut and paste the text into the email and send it that way. Records that are in columns should be sent to me in a spreadheet (.xls or .123) or dbase database so that I can easily convert them to html. Directories, locators, etc., can be sent as a database (dbase) or a text-delimited file (spaced with either tabs or pipes). I can open most anything so long as it has a fairly known file type. If you are unsure about the file extension, email me first.

You may also send files to a township coordinator, if the township is hosted. Please email the coordinator and ask what they prefer.

Either way, I will see that your files get online.

Where Will It Go Online?

Currently, everything is posted online in our home directory. This makes it easier for the search engine to work properly. I can place the files in the USGW archives for this county, and if that is what you prefer, please state that on the email. You can also submit text files directly to the US/OHGenWeb Archives for inclusion there or to the Muskingum County Message Boards. If you do post the data to the Boards, make sure you select the appropriate type, ie: Birth, Death, Obit, etc.
