John Titus to John Ross
Know all ye men by these presents That we John Titus and Grace Titus--wife of said John Titus of the County of Muskingum, Ohio, in consideration for the sum of Two hundred dollars in hand paid by John Ross of the same place have bargained and sold and do hereby grant bargain sell and carry note the said John Ross his heirs and assigns forever the following premises situate (sic) in the County of Muskingum in the State of Ohio and bounded and described as follows to wit--a parcel of lot number Seventeen (17) in the Second quarter of Township number Three (3) of range number six (6) of the United States Military Lands for the use of Schools Beginning at the South East corner of said Lot Seventeen (17) and running thence on the South boundary of said lot west ten (10) chains to a corner thence North nineteen (19) chains and Ninety three (93) links to a corner in the sought boundary of James H. Linder's lands, hence with said Linder's Line east Ten (10) chains and Seven (7) links to a corner stone in the east boundary of said lot number Seventeen thence with said East boundary South nineteen (19) chains and Ninety Six (96) lengths to the place of beginning containing by calculation Twenty (20) acres be the same more or less---
To have and to hold said premises with the appertences unto the said John Ross his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Titus for himself and heirs doth hereby covenant with said John Ross his heirs and assigns that he is lawfully siezed of the premises afore said that the premises are free and clear from all (several missing words caused by someone having applied tape to the original)...whatsoever and that he will forever warrant (several more missing words due to tape) with the appertenances unto the said John Ross his heirs and assigns against the lawful ??? (illegible word) of all persons whomever.
In Testimony whereof the said John Titus and Grace Titus have hereto set their hand and seals this Twenty fourth day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty five.

The State of Ohio, Muskingum County
Before me Joseph Fisher a Notary Public in and for said county personally appeared the within named John Titus and Grace his wife and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the within conveyance to be their voluntary act and deed. And the said Grace being at the same time examined by me seperate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said instrument maid herein to her by me she then declared that she did voluntarily sign, seal and acknowledge the same and that she is still satisfied therewith.
