OHGenWeb Archives - Land Records
The Following links take you to the FTP Archives of the Bureau of Land
Management Land Patent records for Muskingum County, OH. They are
arranged alphabetically by the patentee name. They are not a replacement
for the actual records at the Bureau of Land Management but are a quick
way to see if a patent exists before spending the time searching. If you
do find someone, then use the link below to the Bureau of Land Management
and conduct a patent search. From there you can view an image of the
actual patent and also order a certified copy.
If you have land records for a Muskingum County ancestor you would like to share with other Muskingum County researchers, please submit the information to Denny Shirer. You may also consider submitting to the OHGenWeb Archives.
The Bureau of Land Management's site listed above is the first place one should look for early land patents. If you do not find a land record there, then the Muskingum County Recorder's Office would be the next place to look.
The Ohio Historical Society also has records of early records of land grants, bounty land, and land purchases.
