"Samuel Livingston Williams arrived in Muskingham county sometime before 1810. He was born in the Wilkes-Barre , PA area in 1784 and moved to this area sometime between then and 1810. It is not known if he accompanied his parents or came alone. He settled in Hopewell township, where he married Elizabeth German in 1810. The marriage was performed by the Rev. Robert Manly of Hopewell. Samuel and his family farmed this area until about 1834. They had 10 children, of which nine were born in Hopewell Township. Around 1834 they removed to Illinois taking all their children except John, the oldest, with them. John joined them in 1835 after his son was born. John returned a few years later upon the death of his wife." submitted by Samuel Williams |
