Dated 10 January 1833, proved 30 November 1835 Source: Muskingum Co. Will Books Vol. C, p. 106; LDS film 317,300 I, Richard Strong of the County of Muskingum in the State of Ohio, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say - First, it is my will that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be fully paid - Second I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Sarah Strong in lieu of her dower the plantation we now reside on, situate(d) in the County of Muskingum, containing one hundred and sixty acres during her natural life, and all the livestock, horses, cattle, sheep, hogs, etc. by me now owned and kept thereon. Also all the household furniture, and other items not particularly named and otherwise disposed of in this will during her natural life as aforesaid and that at the death of my said wife all the property hereby devised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid, or so much thereof as may remain unexpended to my son James Strong by his paying the following legacies to my six daughters as follows - Third, I give and devise to my eldest daughter Mary Habron the sum of one hundred dollars. Fourth I give and devise to my second daughter Patty [Martha?] Wortman the sum of one hundred dollars. Fifth I give and bequeath to my third daughter Sarah Strong one bed and bedding, two cows, six sheep, and one hundred dollars in money. Sixth, I give and devise to my fourth daughter Nancy Gannon the sum of one hundred dollars. Seventh, I give and devise to my fifth daughter Rachel Wortman the sum of one hundred dollars. Eighth, I give and devise to my youngest daughter Priscilla Strong one bed and bedding, two cows, six sheep, and the sum of one hundred dollars. The above legatees are to be paid within nine years after my decease. Also the two single girls, Sarah Strong and Priscilla Strong, are to stay on the place and have the use of the new house while they remain single. And lastly I hereby constitute my said wife Sarah Strong, and my son James Strong, to be the executors of this my last will and testament, revoking and annulling all former wills by me made and ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament.In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th day of January 1833.
