The is an on-going project to list all businesses, and possibly all organizations, that have been in Norwood from its earliest
days to the present. The business may be manufacturing, service, home-based, non-profit, etc. When known, the type of business, address
and other information will be included in the list. The years the organization was in operation in Norwood will be added when it is
known. The goal is to have a complete listing with individual company pages or links.
The list was compiled from various sources — reader input, advertisements, directories, newspapers, receipts, calendars, etc.
(even my memories, which is why information may be incomplete!) — in fact, any document that had a Norwood related business
on it! Some business had offices elsewhere, but they conducted some of their businesses in Norwood, e.g. early real estate
developers. The locations and even names of the businesses may have changed over the years. As the changes are discovered, they will be
recorded here. When similiar named businesses are found, they will be listed separately, unless it can be definitely determined that
they are the same company. The same applies to companies with name changes.
At the present the listings will be in alphabetical and selected type of business categories. Later, a location
category may be added (either by street or area).
Even though some of the business are still in operation, this listing is neither an advertisement or endorsement of any company. Some of
the organizations have been in Norwood for over a hundred years, other businesses occupy buildings or sites that have historic
significance, and are therefore a part of Norwood's history.
Although care has been taken to compile this list, mistakes are unintentional and will be corrected when found.
