Abner Collins
Abner Collins - Clerk of Harrison township, has been a resident here since 1873. He is the son of Thomas W. Collins, deceased, and Elizabeth (Kerns) Collins, and was born in Highland county, Ohio, December 1, 1843. He was married at Bellefontaine, Logan county, Ohio, February 22, 1866, to Victoria Haines, born in the same county February 17, 1847. Eight children have been added to their home to cheer and brighten their declining years, namely: Bessie A., born December 15, 1866; Harriet L., March 26, 1868; Thomas W., July 1, 1870; Willie, born May 19, 1872, died July 7, 1872; Flora E., April 20, 1873; Robert B., May 22, 1875; Victoria B., August 6, 1877; Sylvia M., April 27, 1880, and all reside under the parental roof. Mrs. Collins is a daughter of David and Elizabeth A. (Branson) Haines; the latter died in 1862. Mr. Collins was three years in the war of the Rebellion, and participated in many hard battles, viz: the siege of Knoxville, Tennessee, Atlanta campaign, Franklin, Tennessee, and the battles of Nashville; received an honorable discharge and returned home, and is now a farmer.
