Peter Jailer




Peter Jailer-is of French descent, and after becoming of age changed his name to Jailer, from Cheoalla which it originally was in the French language. He is by trade a farmer, carpenter and joiner. He was born in Plattsburg, Clinton county, New York, May 22, 1814. His father, John Jailer, was born in Vermont, 1787, and died in Cleveland in 1858. His mother, Adeline (DeMorce) Jailer, was born in Canada, 1792; removed to Plattsburg, New York, when a child, and died in Berea, Ohio, 1870. Peter was married in Cuyahoga county, Ohio, May 16, 1867, to Fanny F. Moore, who was born in Michigan, July 13, 1845. Their children are: Gertrude A., born March 16, 1868; Peter Ephraim, November 19, 1872, died September 18, 1873; Charles Andrew, July 19, 1875; John William, March 19, 1881. His wife’s parents were residents of Michigan. Her father, William Henry Moore, was born in Ireland in 1810, and died in 1875. Her mother, Gertrude Hook, was born in New Jersey in 1800, and died in Paulding county. Mr. Jailer is a resident of Carryall township. Address, Paulding, Paulding county, Ohio.
