Barnhard Adams
was born in Germany, April 8, 1830, a son of Michael and Mary Eve (Geis) Adams. In 1834 his parents came to the United States and located on the farm where he still resides. His father died in 1844, aged fifty-six years, and his mother in 1878, aged eighty-five years. When he was fourteen years of age, he began to work for the neighboring farmers, but after reaching his majority returned to the old homestead. In 1855, he married Mary, daughter of Daniel Miller, a native of Switzerland, who came to the United States in 1835. They have eight children: Henry, Mary, Frances, John, Annie, Lizzie, Daniel and Louis. Mr. Adams has served two terms as County Commissioner and two terms as Township Treasurer. He has a fine farm of 385 acres, and the largest orchard in the township. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church, and his wife of the Protestant Church.
