Charles M. Gordon
was born in Marion Township, Pike County, Ohio, February 6, 1839, a son of William V and Maria (Beauchamp) Gordon. He resided at home till manhood and then purchased the farm where he still resides. He has 110 acres of improved land and is one of the successful farmers of the township. March 22, 1863, he married Harriet, daughter of Honorable John James. They have five children - Maria L., Cynthia J., Emma L., John F. and William F. September 14, 1863, he enlisted in Company E, Thirty-third Ohio Infantry, and served till the close of the war; was mustered out June 14, 1865. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
