JARMAN'S FAMILY
1812 - 1861
Isaac Wooden JARMAN
was born in Delaware March 29, 1812. He was the son of James and Rachel (-) JARMAN who where also born in the state of Delaware. The JARMANS originally came to America from Wales. Isaac JARMAN left Delaware, with his parents when a boy, for the new country of Ohio, settling in Pike County.
Isaac JARMAN had three brothers:
William JARMAN born in 1805 who married Cynthia ELLIOTT, January 31, 1828.
Perry Theodore born August 14, 1814 who married Anna JENKINS, March 23, 1835.
James L. JARMAN born November 11, 1823 who married Sarah DAVIDSON
and five sisters:
Priscilla who married John ANDERSON, August 25, 1834.
Ann who married John CLUFF, January 21, 1831.
Mary Ann who married Jacob DAVIS, December 11, 1845.
Mahala who married Joshua BRAGG, February 16, 1840.
Lydia Ann who married Benjamin TOWNSEND, December 10, 1844.
Isaac JARMAN was married to Sophia TULLEYS who was born in Bainbridge, Ross County, Ohio, June 11, 1816. Sophia was the daughter of John and Judiah (-) TULLEYS who came to Ohio from Virginia. She was one of eight children. They were married in Ross County, June 5, 1836.
Isaac and Sophia JARMAN made their home in Perry Township, near Cynthiana, Pike County, Ohio. Descendants stated that Isaac was tall and straight with very blue eyes. He was very quick motioned, and had the nickname of "Trigger Foot." He was musical and acted as singing master in the community. Sophia JARMAN was small with brown eyes and hair. They both were devoted church people. They reared a family of six children all of whom moved westward after their parents' death. Their children were: Mary Eleanor who married Joseph OVERMAN; Orpha who married Duncan MacArthur POTTS; Ann who married John W. KIDD; Sarah DAVIDSON who married Abraham LANDDRETH; William Oliver who married Rebecca HYDE; Jacob Tulley JARMAN who married Ella WARD.
Isaac and Sophia JARMAN are buried in the little church grave yard at Cynthiana, Ohio. The Monument Inscriptions are as follows:

Died: April 25, 1861
age: 49 years & 26 days
Sophia JARMAN
Died: September 7, 1867
Age: 51 years, 2 mo & 26 days
Isaac JARMAN left a will on file in the Pike County Court House at Waverly, Ohio (#1131). His father was James JARMAN, he also has a will on file.
