P. T. McLellan
, merchant, and Postmaster of Coopersville, Ohio, was born February 24, 1842 in Pike County, and is a son of Thomas and Nancy (Wills) McLellan. September 13, 1861, he enlisted in Company A, Fifty-third Ohio Infantry, as a private, but was afterward promoted to Sergeant-Major. He was at the battle of Shiloh and with Sherman on his march to the sea; was discharged August 2, 1865. After returning home, he engaged in the mercantile business, and now carries a stock of about $2,000, with sales amounting to about $9,000 a year. In 1872, he was married to Jane, daughter of James and Phoebe Rodgers. They have had three children: Delia, Florence and Flora. Mr. McLellan is a member of Orient Lodge, No. 321, A. F. & A. M., and has been through the Blue Lodge. He also belongs to Calwell Post, No. 245, G. A. R. His father was a native of Maine, and was of Dutch and Irish descent. He was one of the first settlers of this county, remaining here till his death, which occurred in 1870, at the age of seventy-five years.
