Jacob Steinhauer's Birthday

 Surprise Parties
- For Both Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Steinhauer of the Prather Farm -

Jacob Steinhauer and his good wife live on the Prather farm down in the Prairie.  They have lived there a good many years and what is more, they have lived successfully.  During these years of corn and wheat raising, they have made lots of friends and what, therefore more natural than that their kind neighbors should gather about their hearthstone to join in the festivities of natal day celebration and to bid Jake and Minnie God-speed in their journey of life.

Mrs. Steinhouer planned a surprise for her husband on Feb. 15, his birthday and of course got word to the neighbors concerning her purposes.  The result was a raid on Jacob that made him sit up and take notice that somebody had been busy and that something was doin’.

The following responded with much cheer and many good wishes:

Leonard Armsey, Mird Clark and wife and 3 daughters, Maple, Ina and Corda, August Oyer, wife and 2 children, Thomas and Elizabeth, George Daniles Sr., wife and daughter Gay,  George Daniles Jr., wife and 2 children, Mildred and Robert, John Seeling and wife, Otto Stretenberger and wife, John Trainer and wife, Calvin Henderson, wife and daughter Fairy, Eli Guess and wife, Frank Westervelt, wife and 3 children, Gladys, Lyman and Raleigh,  John Barch and wife, George Baker, wife and son Elmer and grandson Peter Baker, John Litterst and daughter Eva and 2 sons Earl and Forest, Mrs. Cutlip and daughter Emma, Mrs. Henry Teichert and son Richard, Mrs. Rosa James and daughter Evelyn, Mrs. Martha Mead and 2 sons, George and Benny, Misses Hazel Seeling, Jessie Oyer, Opal Clark, Margaret, Jessie and Nellie Steinhauer, Mrs. Margaret Steinhauer, and Messrs. Dessis Daniels, Grover Steinhauer, Jacob Armbrust, James Steinhauer, Andre Steinhauer.
Now it so happened that in the course of earthly events, Mr. & Mrs. Steinhauer both came to this world in the same month of the year and but a couple of days apart in that month, so that while friends made merry with the former on Feb 15, somebody, not Jake of course, planned a surprise for Mrs. Steinhauer on Feb 17.  In honor of this occasion the following friends were present:

John Clark, wife and 2 daughters, Opal and Dorothy, Calvin Henderson, wife and daughter Fairie, Mird Clark, wife and 3 daughters, Maple, Ina and Corda, Mack Munyon and wife, Homer McDowell and wife, Torn James, wife and daughter Evelyn, Erwin Brown, wife and son Delbert, John Barch, wife and 2 children, Robert and Irene, Otto Daily and wife, George Daniels, wife and 3 children, Earl, Mildred and Robert, Misses Margaret Steinhauer, Blanch Givens, Emma Cutlip, Oral Trainer, Rachel McDowell, Louella Pfeifer, Jessie Oyer, Stella Steinmetz, Leta Lewis, Louise Provost, Margaret Steinhauer, Jessie Steinhauer, Roxie Emrich, Nellie Steinhauer, Messrs.   In addition to the particulars of these 2 pleasant events, The Democrat was the recipient on last Monday of a generous supply of choice cake, with compliments of Mrs. Steinhauer, which together with the other good things farmer’s wives know so well how to prepare, constitute the hospitals spread on these 2 occasions. The Democrat joins with many friends of Mr. & Mrs. Steinhauer in wishing them the recurrence of many other happy birthdays.
