The McLaughlin Reunion


The greater part of the McLaughlin family met at the old homestead in Madison Township last week for thieir first time in many years.  There were present:

 William A.  of Carroll, Indiana.
Dr. James M. of Seeleyille, Indiana.
 A. E. of Washington D. C.
 Hon. Stephen D. of Waverly.
 Frank R. of Chapman.
 A. J. and Dr. Oscar of Madison.
 Charles an attorney at Seeleyville, Indiana.
Mrs. J. W. Johnson were the only members of the family absent.

All the children of Aaron McLaughlin are deceased.  He was born in Gallia County, but was brought to this county in 1823 when he was only five years of age.  He grew to manhood in the family of Jacob Mohler of Madison.  He went off to the public works for a few years but he soon married and settled on the farm where he was raised.  He was twice married, and was the father of eight sons and one daughter who survive.  He died March 19, 1891.  Two of his sons are physicians and two sons are attorneys. Hon. S. D. McLaughlin held an important position at Washington for about seven years.  The only daughter is the wife of J. W. Johnson the well known editor of the Waverly Courier but formerly of the Jackson Herald.
