Eastern School District Timeline

Time line for the Eastern School District - now located on Tile Mill Road near Beaver, Ohio

1890 - New Beaver School is completed by Jacob Deiber.

1895 - Beaver Schools close due to drought.

1903 - Salem Township School is destroyed by fire.

1905 - New frame school is completed in Stockdale.

1912 - Stockdale School is closed due to a diphtheria outbreak.

1915 - Adams and Gordon School Districts are added to the Stockdale School District.

1917 - Beaver High School graduates it first high school class.

1917 - Nutt and Mosier Districts added to Beaver School District.

1922 - Stockdale High School graduates its first high school class.

1924 - New brick Beaver High School is completed.

1924 - Second Salem School in Marion Township is destroyed by fire.

1925 - New Stockdale School is completed.

1928 - Union Township builds new school.

1933 - New remodeled and enlarged Beaver High School is dedicated.

1935 - The community of Stockdale passes a bond issue to allow the replacement of three existing buildings.

1935 - Four new classrooms are added to the Union Township School by WPA.

1936 - The WPA completes a large addition to the existing Stockdale School.

1937 - Union Township sales at auction it remaining six one-room schools.

1939 - Beaver High School plays it first football game.

1942 - Agricultural Shop built onto Beaver School by the Work Progress Administration.

1955 - Union Township School has two new classrooms added.

1955 - Three classrooms are added to the Stockdale School.

1956 - Ten room addition is made to Beaver School.

1959 - Eastern Local School District is officially formed.

1961 - Bond issue to construct Eastern High School passes 963 to 215.

1964 - Students move into the new Eastern High School.

1976 - Beaver Junior High renamed to Eastern Junior High.

1997 - Bond issue to construct a new school campus passes 991 to 495.

1998 - Ground is broken for new Eastern Local School Campus.

2002 New Eastern Local School Campus is dedicated.

All children from the old Beaver or Eastern Jr. High, Stockdale Elementary was moved to the Eastern School Campus.
