Teachers during the World War II
Some facts from the 1942 Waverly Novel

     Here are the teachers at the high school during the first years of World War II.
    Hobert C. Helman - Principal and teacher of World History, American History and Junior High History.  (Note by Jim Henry: I think at this time 7th and 8th grade were also at the high school building as in my first year of high school 1952-1953).
     Robert D. Campbell - Vocational Agriculture Farm Shop.
Wendell P. Bigony - Hygiene, French, General Science, and Chemistry.
Sidney B. Cutlip - Biology, Jr. High Spelling, Writing and Mathematics.
Charles O. Schrader - Public School Music and English IX.
Kathryn A. Shy - English X and XI, Junior High Spelling and Writing.
George O'Dell - Industrial Arts.
Lenore Vallery - English XII, Latin and Jr. High English.
Chester A. Way - Social Science and Junior High Geography.
Charles W. King - Physical Education, Junior High Science.
James Dunham - Business Arithmetic, Economic Geography, Junior High Mathenatics.
Mrs. Pfiefer - Vocational Home Economics, 1st Semester.
Mrs. Walter C. Scott - Voc. H. Economics, 2nd Semester.
J. F. McConnaughey - Commercial Subjects.

     Of these the following were still teaching in 1952 at Waverly -
 Mr. Shrader, Mr. McConnaughey, and Mrs. Scott.

Chester Way was Assistant County School Superintendent.

Baccalaureate Program was held Sunday, May 17th in the high school at 8 p.m.  Invocation - Rev. Theo Schlumdt, Scripture Reading - Old Testament - Rev. Glen Sylvia, New Testament - Rev. Paul Ertel, Benediction - Rev. O. E. Leonard, Commencement Program - Thursday, May 21 at 8 p.m.  Invocation - Rev. H. L. Smith; Address of Welcome - Donald Maple; Presentation of Class Gift - Katherine Moore; Class address - Mrs. Rose Hildebrand; Meldy "United We Stand" - High School Band; Presentation of  Honor Awards - John R. Teichert - Supt.; Presentation of Diplomas - J. E. Way, Co. Supt.; Valedictory Address- George Armbruster; Benediction - Rev. H.  L. Smith; March "Men of Ohio" - High School Band.
