Sarah A Gehres
Saran Ann Kellison Gehres, daughter of John Jackson and Barbara Smith Kellison, was born at Piketon on November 6, 1852, and passed away at her home in Waverly on February 17, 1951, at the age of 98 years, 3 months and 11 days. When she was nine years old, the Kellisons moved to Waverly where she spent the remainder of her life. She was the only surviving member of a family of eight children.
At an early age she joined the Waverly Methodist church and remained a devout member her entire life. She also was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
On December 2, 1877, she was married to William S. Gehres, who preceded her in death on January 14, 1931. To this union were born three boys and one girl; William Joseph, who died in infancy and Lawrence Clyde, who died in 1918. The surviving children are Muriel Gehres Tetrick of Waverly and Wilmer S. Gehres of Rollo, Missouri.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, William C. Gehres of Chillicothe; William E. Tetrick of Waverly, and Barbara Gehres McDonald, of Chile, South America, and two great gransons, William Earl Tetrick and Michael Gehres McDonald.
Funeral services were held at her home on Wednesday with Reverend Hall of the Waverly Methodist church and Reverend Mowry of the Waverly Presbyterian church officiating. Mr. William E. Tetrick sang "The City Four-Square" and "Jesus, Saviour, Pilot Me," accompanied by Mrs. William Tetrick.
