Omega School or Grange Hall - late 1800's
According to local historian Jim Henry, the building, which was erected in the late 1800s, was made from brick that was formed and fired in Waverly. The supplier of the brick was Bauersach's Brick Yard, which was located near the area where the present day "Brick yard" restaurant stands at Green Acres.
The structure has seen many uses over the years, according to research done by Henry. It was utilized as a school where John R. Teichart, former Waverly City School superintendent, once taught before the students were moved to Waverly in the 1930's. It was used as a community Grange Hall for several years hosting public dinners and social gatherings.
An article from the Waverly News in 1900 mentions the meeting of the Tenth Annual Possum Supper and Campfire of Joseph Crimer Post 602 GAR (Grand Army of the Republic, which were Civil War veterans of the Union Army) at the hall in Omega. The property will go to the auction block on March 20, 1999.
