Arrival of the Packet
Arrival of the Packet
A photograph of this color mural painted by Pike County native Roy Best. The mural was a project of the Waverly Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution for the lobby of the new Waverly Post Office, dedicated in 1942.
The painting, titled "Arrival of the Packet" shows Waverly in the post Civil War era. James Emmitt is shown in his wagon at the canal docks opposite his imposting store, as the canal boat "The Waver" is being moored.
This picture is still hanging (2007) in the Waverly Post Office Lobby at Waverly, Ohio.
