Mayor David Lorbach
MAYOR DAVID LORBACH
Late Mayor of Waverly
In more respects than one, David Lorbach was an unusual citizen. He was strong of mind and was, perhaps, the most methodical and exact man whon ever lived in Waverly. He would have made an eminent lawyer. He possessed a legal mind and it is doubtful if there was a man in the state better versed in corporation and municipal affairs. For many years he was a member of the town Council and during all the time of his incumbency, it is a safe prediction, that body always proceeded in Type_label_hereaccordance with the statute governing in municipal matters.
As a man of business affairs, David Lorbach was clear-headed, honest and honorable. Too honest to become rich in these degenerate days of graft and grab, he was, nevertheless industrious and frugal and therefore managed to provide comfortably for his family.
No man has yet lived upon earth, infallible. The straight and narrow way is difficult of travel and few be that walk therein. Our mistakes sometimes are the inevitable results of circumstances and environment. Whatever may have been the frailties of David Lorbach, his virtues as a citizen and the head of a model American home, over-shadow his weaknesses. As an ideal head of a family, he probably had few superiors. Into the developing lives and characters of sons and daughters he sought to and succeeded in implanting
The splendid virtue of obedience, love of truth, learning and honorable
dealing. (see Pike County Bio's for more information)
