DESCENDANTS OF
FREDERICK FUNKOF VIRGINIA.
I. Frederick Funk, bn. —. Probably died in Virginia. Emigrated to America, Sept. 29, 1733. Left Europe on account of religious persecution. During the voyage across the ocean a son was born to them named Adam, who was seven weeks old when he landed. The mother died at the birth of Adam. On landing, Frederick left his infant son Adam, in the care of friends in Philadelphia, while he went away to look for business or a place to settle, but was never heard of afterwards. It is possible that he emigrated to Virginia, where he may have lived until his death. Besides his son Adam, it is probable that he had a son Frederick, who being older, be probably took with him to Virginia.
II. Frederick Funk, mrd. Catharine Kulp, from Bucks (or Berks Co., Pa. Lived in Loudoun Co., Virginia, not far from Strasburg. It is said he went to Chillicothe, 0., la 1811, whither his wife and son Michael, followed in 1812. The children of Frederick II. were: Conrad, George, Frederick, Jacob, Michael and fire daughters; all of the daughters were married and settled in and about Circleville, Ohio.
III. Conrad Funk, bn. in Loudoun Co., Va., died in Williamsport, Pickaway Co., Ohio. Saddler by trade.
III. George Funk, bn. in Loudoun Co., Va. Lived with his family in Chillicothe, 0. Cooper. It was said he could make a cask nearly as high as his head and spring out of it without touching it. They were a family of very large, strong people. Children: IV. Conrad, IV. Beese, IV. John, IV. George.
The children all lived about Circlevllle, 0., and afterwards settled in the neighborhood of Wooster, Ohio.
III. Frederick Funk, bn. in Loudoun Co., Va. Mrd. —. He came to Chillicothe, Ohio, before the rest of the family. His brother, George, came with him. Children: Sarah, George, Margaret, Catharine, Frederick, James, Jacob, Elizabeth, Cynthia, William.
IV. Sarah Funk mrd. John Richhart. They lived in Kosclusko, Co., Ind. Sarah was the largest woman known at that time. She was six feet and one inch in her stocking feet. She was a weaver, and could weave ten yards of twilled jeans in a day. She was a spare woman but muscular and strong and weighed 200 Ibs. Children:

IV. George Funk, mrd. Eliza Sparklln. Lives in Kosclusko Co., Ind. P. O., Milford, Ind. Sells spectacles.

IV. Margaret Funk, died about 1881. Mrd. Alien Richhart. He died about 1890. Lived in Kosciusko Co., Ind. Children: Elizabeth and Orange.
V. Elizabeth Richhart, mrd. — Sulsor; mrd. second husband, —Duett; mrd. third husband, —. She is a minister in the United Brethren Church.
V. Orange Richhart, is a minister in the M. E. church.
IV. Catharine Funk, mrd. — Ruple. He died about 1877. Lived in Kosciusko Co., Ind. Farmer. Children:

IV. James Funk, bn. in Loudoun Co., Va., Sept. 8,1820. At an early age he came, with hit parents and the rest
of the family, to Pickaway County, Ohio. From there they moved to Kosclusko County, Ind., about the year 1842. The country was then a wilderness and the settlers were few. They lived within two miles of an Indian village and were on very friendly terms with them. Mrs. Funk related that she often enjoyed a visit with the Indian Squaws, Just as much as with the best friends of her own claw.In October, 1842, James was married to Charlotte Archer. She was born in Pickaway Co., 0., in 1816, and died at Elkhart, Ind., Dec. 6,1892. Six years after their marriage the family moved to Elkhart County, and nettled near the town of Elkhart, which was then a mere village. In this vicinity they spent the remainder of their lives. During hta latter years James became interested in religion, and both "he and his wife united with the M. E. church. When a new church was built he manifested much earnestness and zeal in the work, and purchased a bell for it, which however proving' too small, he gave it to the school in the vicinity and secured a larger one for the church. He lived at this place forty-three years, and died on the 27th of Dec. 1891, his companion following him just about a year later. Children;

IV. Jacob Punk, was bn. in Loudoun Co., Va., in 1822. The family moved from Virginia, to Pickaway Co., Ohio, when Jacob was quite young. From Ohio they moved to Kosclusko Co., Ind., about the year 1842. About the year 1848 they removed to Elkbart county. He was married to Mary E. Carlton on May 31, 1863. They lived near Bristol, Ind. Farmer and Vet. Surgeon. He traveled a great deal through the county In his business pursuits and powered considerable knowledge, derived almost altogether from observation and conversation. He was taken with a stroke of paralysis, on the street car, on his way from Goshen to Elkhart and died on the 26th of March, 1899, at the age of about 77 years. Burled in Gracelawn Cemetery, Elkhart, Ind. Children:

IV. Elizabeth Funk, died in 1869. Mrd. Samuel Guy Lived In Kosclusko Co., Ind. No issue.
IV. Cynthia Ann Funk, mrd. — Sheffield. Lives in Kansas. Children:

V. Doddridge, and others.
IV. William Funk, lives near Lagrange, Ind. He was a soldier in the war of the rebellion of 1861-1865.
III. Jacob Funk, born in Loudoun Co., Va. He was married three times. Of his children we have no
further information than that most of them are living in and about Circleville and New Holland, Pickaway Co., 0. He was a farmer and lived at one time in Kentucky.III. Michael Funk, bn. iu Loudoun Co., Va. Mrd. Lizzie Simpson. Came with his mother or grandmother
to Chillicothe, 0., 1812. Lived and died In New Holland, Pickaway Co., 0. He was a very old, nearly 100
years old, when he died. This family was in physical development a very large, strong, vigorous people.

One of the daughters married a railroader and went with her husband to England.
Another daughter was engaged in baking in a Dutch oven, when her dress caught fire. Her father jumped from a two story building 40 rods away, ran to her and rolled her in the sand to quench the flames, but she was so severely burned that she died.
