Obituary / Additional Information: The body of Jacob VOLTZ, a young man employed on the farm of Jacob WOLF near Lockbourne was discovered in the canal at Lockbourne, on last Monday morning. It seems as if VOLTZ was trying to walk across the locks on Sunday night and fell therefrom and was drwoned. Justice Earbart investigated the case and returned a verdict of accidental drowning. He was about 27 years of age and unmarried.

Obituary / Additional Information: CORRESPONDENT- Albert WALKER, residing on the Galbreath farm, died on the last day of the Old Year, and was buried at Millville, Hocking county, on the 2d inst. He leaves a wife and four children, besides numerous friends and acquaintances to mourn their untimely loss. NOTE- Millville is now known as Rockbridge. Albert WALKER was probably buried at Centenary Cemetery in one of the many unmarked graves amidst his parents and siblings.

Obituary / Additional Information: Alonzo Eugene WEAVER, a prominent farmer and fruit grower of Walnut township, died at Grant hospital, Columbus, Tuesday, norming at four o'clock, following an operation performed Wednesday of last week. Mr. WEAVER was the son of David F. and Amanda Cole WEAVER and was born in Amanda township, Fairfield County, January 19, 1852. On September 10, 1874, he married Mary C. Oman, who died 11-1-1901. He is survived by three daughters; Mrs. George MARION, and Mrs. Walter J. Marion, of Circleville township, and Mrs. Oren ATER of Atlanta. He also leaves three grandchildren; Alonzo,son of Mrs. and Mrs. George Marion, a student at Ohio State University; Gerald, a student at Oxford University, and Katherine children of Mrs. and Mrs. Walter J. Marion at home. Of his immediate family he leaves one sister, Mrs. Lida BRINKER, of Walnut township. August 9, 1913, Mr. WEAVER, married Miss Julia PATTERSON, who survives. Mr. WEAVER, had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for sixty years and for a score of years was superintent of the Hedges Chapel Sunday School. He served many years as a member of the board of education in his township and was a member of Columbia lodge of Odd fellows, of this city, and of the grange. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at one o'clock from the home, conducted by Rev. Mr. SUDLOW, of Ashville and Rev. Mr. CHANDLER of Columbus, and the body will be laid to rest in the mausoleum near Reber Hill Cemetery.

Obituary / Additional Information: (10 September 1895) Death of Margaret WENTWORTH Mrs. Margaret J. WENTWORTH, an old and well known resident of this city died Tuesday morning after a lingering illness, aged 66 years. Mrs. WENTWORTH was twice married, her first husband being John WALT whom she married in 1848. Mr. WALT died in 1851. In 1853 she was united in marriage to Alonzo WENTWORTH who died several years ago. There were three children born to them viz: Albert, whose place of residence is unknown, Miss Eva, ex-librarian of this city and William, the present efficient manager of the Western Union Telegraph of this city. Mrs. WENTWORTH was the daughter of the late Ebenezer EVERTS, who was one of the pioneer educators of this county 60 years ago. He was a ripe scholar and enthusiastic friend of free schools. It was through his liberality that the city of Circleville possesses on of the most beautiful school lots and school house in the state. Everts school building was named as a memorial to him. There remains but one surviving member of the family, viz: Miss Ebeline (should read Eveline) EVERTS. The eldest sister, Ann, who was the first wife of O.E. NILES died in 1852. The funeral will take place tomorrow morning from the late residence on Scioto street at 9:30 a.m.

Obituary / Additional Information: Brights Disease caused death of Jonah Woolever - was Retired Farmer - Funeral Tuesday
Jonah Woolever died at his home 325 Watt Street this morning at six o'clock. He had been ill one week of acute Bright's disease. The deceased was born in Hocking Co. January 6, 1851. He was the son of John and Rebecca (check this name) Rush Woolever. He came to this county with his parents in 1866. He married Miss Catharine Kellstadt in Circleville township, February 4, 1879. Four sons and three daughters survive. They are Misses Daisy D. Woolever and Viola Z. Woolever, Rose, wife of Clarence Barnhart, of this city; Leslie O. Woolever of Pickerington; A.H. Woolever of Polk, Nebraska, Melvin G. Woolever of Ashville; and Ralph E. Woolever of Columbus. One son, John L. Woolever, died in this city a year ago. Of his immediate family, one brother, Jackson Woolever, of Lavonia, Missouri, is living.
The funeral services will be held at his home on Watt Street Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock Eastern time. Rev. S. W. Hiles of the United Brethren Church will officiate. Internment will be at Reber Hill Cemetery. The pall bearers will be C.R. Barnhart; L. O., Ralph and Melvin Woolever, A.J. Dunkle and Turney Glick. Mr. Woolever had been a resident of this city for the past five years. He was a retired farmer. Since making his residence here he has by his kindly disposition endeared himself to his neighbors and had a host of friends in this city, who will be shocked to learn of his death. She was a woman of sterling worth, a great help meet to her husband and a zealous, active worker in the church with which she was associated.

Obituary / Additional Information: Daughter of Stephen and Mary (Hoffhines) Cromley, was born in Walnut township, Pickway County, Ohio on the 18th day of January 1834, and departed this life at her home in Ashville, Ohio on the 4th day of October 1916, having reached the grand old age of 82 years, 8 months, and 16days. In the days of her infancy she was made a member of the Lord's kingdom by the holy sacrament of Baptism. At the proper age, after a course of instruction in the fundamentals of the Christian Religion as set forth in Dr. Martin Luther's Catechism, she was confirmed in the St. Paul's Lutheran church, on the 17th day of April 1852, by Ref. J. A. Roof. Later in life she transferred her membership to the English Lutheran church of Ashville, Ohio, with which she remained a faithful member until removed by death. The deceased was united in the holy bonds of matrimony with Jacob Baam, in the autumn of 1858. This union was blessed with three children namely, Lena leota, who died in infancy; Mattie Jane, wife of Rev. D. E. Snapp, who died August 1, 1890; Thaddeus W. Baum, who died September 18, 1910. With her husband she was permitted to live until the 16th day of April 1876; when he was taken from her by the angel of death. After a period of nine years the deceased was again united in marriage to William Wright of Madison township on the 4th day of December, 1885, by Rev. D. E. Snapp. Again death entered her home and took from her side her husband on the 22nd day of July 1906. Since this time until her death she remained a widow. Not only was the deceased called upon to give up her partners in life, but also to part with the dear children of her first marriage. Those of her immediate relatives who survive are: four grand- children, namely, Mrs. Prof. Busch Bexley, Columbus, O; Mrs. Bert L. Oman Duvall, Ohio Route 1, and the Misses Helen and Dorothy Baum, Duvall, O together with six great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. M. L. Roof, Ashville, O; Mrs. Ann M. Wheeler, Lima O, one brother, Mr. Henry Cromley, Ashville, O; two step-children; Mrs. J. B. Hinds, Ashville, O, and Mr. James Wright of Springfield, Ohio.. Besides these relatives, she leaves a very large circle of friends who will greatly miss her, for she was loved by many. funeral services were held in her church at Ashville. on Friday afternoon October 6, 1916, conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. B. Ringle, and interment was made in the beautiful Forest cemetery at Circleville, Ohi where she now awaits the coming of her Redeemer to take those who are His into their internal home, after the great resurrection..

Obituary / Additional Information: YATES, Socrates M. a verteran of the Civil War having served in Company K. 122d regiment, O.V.I., died, last Thursday morning of paralysis after one week's illness in his 79th year. Deceased was a native of Pickaway Co, son of John and Elizabeth (BLUE) Yates, and was born in Deercreek township on Dec 16 1842. On January 28 1869, he was united in marriage to Martha BAKER, also of Deercreek township, to this union two daughters were born, Miss Emily D. Yates, and Arizona Yates, who married C. P. HEISKELL; his wife and daughter Arizona preceded him in death within the year; Miss Emily and two grandsons Lawrence and John Heiskell survive. Of his immediate family he is survived by two brothers, John Yates of Butler, Missouri and Rolland Yates of Dayton, Ohio. Religiously deceased was a member of the Methodist Church, fraternally of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, the Knights of Pythias and of Groce Post Grand Army of the Republic, funeral last Saturday afternoon Mader and Ebert.
