This is a real long shot. We have an ADKINS family in Hampshire Co., W. VA from 1840 to about 1880. During the War some of the kids went north and eventually we think all of them left. All we have on one of the daughters is a family story that says "Cynthia may have gone west also based on stories of my elderly cousins that they thought Aunt "Sin" lived in Ohio and had a daughter, Mary, who lived near Wadsworth, OH." We have no married name nor do we know if it is Wadsworth, OH. Henry A. and Ellen/Eleanor Adkins had kids starting in 1834 and ending in 1858. Cynthia is in the middle somewhere. Anyone have a Cynthia J. ADKINS "something" in their family tree that could help us?

Shepherd, Hewitt. I am searching for birth or marriage records for Ezekiel Shepherd or Delilah Hewitt. Her surname may have been spelled as: Hewett, Huit, Huitt, Huyett, or other variations. They were both born about 1813 and were likely married about 1840. While we don't know their parent's names or sibling's names, there is some indication that Samuel Shepherd may have been his brother. He married Nancy Jones in Ohio about 1835. It is very likely that if they were brothers, they were married in the same county. Thanks for your time and efforts. Please send replies to my e-mail as well as to the query forum.

I am researching the surname WESTON. My ggg grandfather was suppose to ahve been from OHIO. He eventually came to Alabama. He may have gone back to OHIO. He had supposedly a first marriage. Possibly had a son Baker Weston in Ohio. His second marriage was possilby Elizabeth Julia Hodge. She could have had a daughter born pre 1826 named Lydia Hodge (HOG) who married a Calvin Tidwell. My mystery Weston grandfather may have been dead by 1840 as Elizabeth Julia Weston appears to be alone on the 1840 Marshall county, AL census. There is a reference in several old family stories to Baker Weston, Jacque or Jack Weston and OHIO. Also a Bill Weston may have been Baker Weston's brother. THey would have been born pre 1826. Seeking information on the ELLIOTT family, namely, Paul B. ELLIOTT and his brother Thomas W. ELLIOTT. Their Civil War pension papers state only "Michigan Territory, Ohio" as birthplace, about 1816-17. They later settled in Grant Co. WI. Have checked all the obvious sources, (at least I think I have). Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

LE MOND, WIER: I am looking for help with a Jane Wier, b. 1830 somewhere in OH, who married Thomas Ellis LeMond in 1863 in Randolph Co., IL. Thomas was b. 1812 somewhere in OH and he died 1887. Jane died 1915. They both married several times and all the kids that I know of I think were born in IL. So, Jane may not have lived long in OH. I have her father as James Wier, b. May 4, 1797 and her mother as Jane Downing, b. Mar. 5, 1800. This is all I know of this family.

Our Joseph THORNBRUGH married Rebecca GIBSON and by 1806 we believe they were somewhere in Ohio. We know that Joseph's father was a Quaker and Rebecca was said to be of Welsh descent. The family story says that they were from "near Ashville, NC", went to eastern TN "near Knoxville". We find children then born in OH - Ashael born about 1806 OH - Elizabeth born 10 May 1810 OH - and James born 1 October 1812 OH. Their daughter's Sarah and "Polly" and possibly Rebecca may have been born in this same time frame. We then find the next child, William, born about 1815 in IN. It may be possible that the family was in Washington Co., IN by 1820 - and they were in Putnam Co., IN by 1822. Children to follow were Lemuel born 27 Jan 1817 IN - Washington born abt. 1820 IN - and Lewis born abt. 1825 in Putnam Co., IN. We have found the name spelled with many variations but believe it most likely that Joseph was from one of the early Quaker THORNBOROUGH/THORNBROUGH family lines. Judging from his daughter Elizabeth's reference to Joseph's "father" having been a Quaker, we are working on the theory that perhaps his father was disowned at some point for marrying out of unity. Does anyone have any clues on where this family may have lived in Ohio?
