BULL posted by Joanne Aylward on Saturday, May 6, 2000

I am searching for information concerning Sylvia BULL, born Pleasant Valley, OH, 12 Aug 1832. [Info from her obit, Knox Co., MO, 25 Oct 1906]. The Ohio place finder lists Pleasant Valley in seven different counties in OH. Would like to identify which county was her birthplace. Family tradition says that Sylvia was an Oglala Sioux Indian. Sylvia allegedly married John Rowe in 1850 at Ft. Laramie, WY but no documentation has been found. If you could post this for me or tell me how I can do it, I would appreciate it very much. (This is not my family. I am doing research for someone else.) Thank you very much.

BAUER, GARRETT, HARTMAN posted by Alice Bauer on Tuesday, May 9, 2000

I am searching for the family of Peter HARTMAN and his wife Anna (maiden name unknown). It is believed that Peter and Anna were in Clark Co at the time of their daughter Anna Barbara HARTMAN's marriage on May 11, 1892 to Charles L BAUER. There were at least two other children, a daughter (name unknown) who married a GARRETT from Columbus and a son known as A J who became a doctor or perhaps a dentist and lived a good part of his life in St Louis. Anna died in 1959 at the age of 86 which would have made her born around 1873. Both the brother and sister were alive at the time of Anna's death. If anyone has further information, I would greatly appreciate any help as I have hit a brick wall.

ELSEY, GOWER, WHEELER posted by Pattie Hannon on Sunday, May 14, 2000

Am looking for info on where John WHEELER went to in Ohio, and death & burial info on him. John was born circa 1758 on board ship from England to America. We know that he was a veteran of the Rev. War and lived in Lancaster Co., PA before 1800, moving to Monongalia/Preston Co., VA (WV) around 1800 and settling there. According to a family tradition that was recorded many years ago, he was still living at the age of 110 in Ohio. He was probably living with a son or daughter at that time, and would theoretically be in the 1850, 1860 and possibly even 1870 census for Ohio. Known children of John and his wife, Catherine GOWER, were: John, William, Samuel, Jacob, David, Abraham, George Jehu, Jonathon and Matilda (married Nicholas ELSEY). Any help would be appreciated.

KELLEY posted by Maria Mastin on Saturday, May 27, 2000

I have a "brickwall" ancestor who I have been searching for 20 yrs or more! His name was Luke KELLEY. I place him in Coshocton county, Ohio on 23 November, 1868 where he married my gg grandmother, Catherine Magee Rogers. This was her second marriage, the first being to William Rogers, who, according to family tradition, was killed in the Civil War. She had 4 sons with William: William, John, Hugh and Owen Rogers. Luke and Catherine had one child together, my great grandmother, Catherine Marie Kelley. She was born 3 June 1870 in Tuscarasas Township, Coshocton, Ohio. Luke appears in the 1880 census in Coshocton as being 38 yrs old and born in Ireland. Apparently some time after that, he left the family and I have not been able to locate him again! I suspect that he died in Ohio because another family tradition has it that he visited his married daughter years after he left the home. She had married Thomas David Burke Sept 21 1897 in Coshocton and had moved to Glynnwood, Auglaize county, Ohio, which is where the Burke family lived. He was an old man by this time and his daughter wanted to have nothing to do with him. Another twist on this story: family tradition again has it that Luke served in the Civil War, but my search of this avenue provided me with (probably) the wrong Luke Kelley! This Luke was from Cincinnati (my home) and was married to a Bridget ? and he is buried in the Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio. For a long time, I thought that this was indeed my Luke, but upon receiving Luke's pension records, I noticed that Bridget was his wife, he had not married before, and she was alive when he married Catherine Magee. I find it hard (but not impossible) to believe that he was married to both women in those days when Cincinnati and Coshocton are about 3 hrs by car today. I know that this is a query board, but I'm despirate and am willing to hire a researcher at this point. Thanks so much.
