SKELLY posted by Fran T. Brown on Sunday, June 11, 2000

Where is the city of Parlette. I know it says to ask for counties but this city isn't on any map in Ohio. My mother was born in Parlette, Ohio, she had said it was near Cadiz. Both the Harrison and Jefferson counties do not list that city on their city locations in their web or any map I have seen. A gentlemen responded to my genealogy query earlier this week as I was searching for my mother's Skelly family in that location. He said Parlette is located on State Route 151 between Hopedale and Smithfield, Oh. And that Cadiz was 7 miles from Hopedale, and that it was in Jefferson county. If this is true, why isn't it listed anywhere? Thanks for any assistance.

CONWAY, EPLY, FARRELL, FERRELL, FOGEL, LABON, LEONTINA, MYETTE, OAKLEY, PARK, RHODE, SNYDER posted by on Tuesday, June 20, 2000

I have been tracing an ancestor named Russell Labon Snyder b. July 1894 in Jay County Indiana. After years of blank walls I have had several important successes. I now know his father was James Snyder b. 1872. also in Indiana. These two generations are fairly well documented and I consider that acquisition of the information to be an important achievement. Now comes the Ohio part James's father was Franklin Snyder who "appeared" in Indiana, Had two families and disappeared again. He seems not to have died and been buried in the state of Indiana as was his wife. There is reason to believe he came from Ohio and went to Indiana. He would have been born about the mid 1800s. I apologize in advance for this skimpy information and hope you can point me toward sources of information so I can do some further digging. Thank you for your time and interest. Gordon J. Smith, Westford, MA Some of this genealogy looks like this: Descendants of Franklin Snyder Generation No. 1 1. FRANKLIN1 SNYDER was born in probably Ohio. He married SARAH E FOGEL in New Carydon Jay county, Indiana. She was born January 15, 1851, and died June 23, 1911 in Jay County Indiana. Child of FRANKLIN SNYDER and SARAH FOGEL is: 2. i. JAMES2 SNYDER (FRANKLIN1) was born August 23, 1872 in New Corydon, Jayleg, Indiana, and died October 25, 1960 in Indiana.
