Sarah COLLINS reportedly returned to Ohio from Cass Co. Michigan about 1850 and died in Ohio shortly after that. I am desparately looking for what county she returned to. She moved to Michigan from Medina Co OH and had lived in Portage and Summit Counties, possibly Clinton County Ohio is a clue. Her maiden name was CHAPMAN and she married in 1803 in Portage Co OH to John COLLINS.

Searching for any connection to a DR.ROBERT D. TIPPLE who practiced medicine before his death (d. 24 june 1896 at age 60) in Toledo, Lucas Co. I know that he was in area 1889-1891 from the city directory. Evidently his office was at "8 Darst block" and he resided at "1911 Jefferson". He was married in 1859 to LOVISA (Louisa?)BARLOW daughter of Lucius and Mary Ann Barlow of Charleston, Wellsboro, Tioga Co. PA. Dr. Tipple's son ROBERT BARLOW TIPPLE was my lost grandfather. Robert resided with him and was a music teacher in 1889-1891. The story goes that Dr. Tipple had remarried ( 2nd WIFE'S NAME UNKNOWN TO ME) and my grandfather didn't get along with her and he set out on the road as a musician and in Vaudeville. My mother was orphaned early and knew very little about the family but remembers that Robert Barlow Tipple at least had a sister. Any help at all would be much appreciated. Are there any newspapers of that time period available? Maybe there is an obituary notice! or an advertisment for medical or music reasons.

Was there or is there a place or a county in Ohio named Chambers? I find a Chambersburg in Clark Co, OH; a Chamberia in Belmont Co, OH and a Chamberlain in Medina Co, OH. I recently received infomation that my husband's gr-gr-grandfather died in Chambers County, Ohio. He was Mahlon James WARD born 1837/28 Chambers Co,OH d 23 Jan 1912 in Balsam Lake, Polk Co, Wis. He married in 1861 in Findlay,Hancock Co, OH Fanny Emily ROBERTS and they had 3 sons & a daughter: Zophar John, George, Orin and Emily Anne WARD-McKnight. During their 49 yr marriage they moved east from Ohio living in Ft Wayne, Indiana; Eau Claire, Wis; Springfield, Missouri and Brookings, Brookings Co, South Dakota. They lived in Brookings, SD for about 12 years before moving to Balsam Lake. Mahlon J. WARD's death notice appeared in the Feb 1, 1923 Brookings Register [SD] newspaper as follows: "FORMER RESIDENT BURIED; The remains of M. J. Ward, who died at Balsam Lake, Wis., on January 23 [1923], arrived here Saturday morning, accompanied by Mrs. Ward and the funeral was held from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Harry McKnight, in the afternoon, conducted by Dr. Horace W. Tilden, and the remains were laid at rest in Greenwood [cemetery in Brookings S.D.]. Mr. Ward was born in Chambers county, Ohio, and was 74 years of age. In addition to Mrs. Ward and Mrs. McKnight he leaves a son in Wisconsin."

I am looking for ANY information on Elijah McCLAIN who married an Elizabeth COTTRELL. Both last names have many spellings. THey show as McLANE in 1880 Braxton county Census, already married with the following children: Hester (listed in Elijah's obit as ESTHER) b @ 1872 in Ohio, James Linzy b. @ 1873 in WV, Electa June b @ 1875 in VW, Cornelia b. @ 1877 in WV and Charels Curtis (My great grandfather) b. 1879 in WV (Savagetown or Frametown). Elijah's death cert. gives No names of informant or parentage and lists WV as place of birth, even though census says OH. Elizabeth's Census also says born in Ohio, as well as BOTH people's parents. Yet we have not found them. The McClain's in my line have so far always shown as miners of coal. When Charles Curtis was "a child" they relocated to Athens County, Ohio, where they lived the rest of their lives. Any info on Elizabeth or Elijah's parents or their marriage record date/county would be so very helpful! Thanks!
