Rachel Ann McGARVEY is the name of a damsel, who has referred the serious charge of bastardy against Homer DENNIS, a son of Infirmary Directory DENNIS. Rachel was formerly an inmate of the Infirmary and several months ago went to the home of Mr. DENNIS as a domestic. While there the intimacy which caused this thusness is alleged to have taken place. A preliminary trial was held before Justice PATTERSON on Wednesday, and the defendant was placed under bond of $400, which was furnished by his father, to appear at Common Pleas Court to answer the charge.
Verdict for the plaintiff rendered in the court the week of 26 September 1883.
On Saturday (9/29/1883) Judge May imposed a penalty of $300 on Homer Dennis, convicted on bastardy. Defendant gave bond to pay the same in installments.
