John F. ALGIRE, of Lexington, died March 5, in his 83rd year. He was born in Bedford county, PA., Nov 25, 1823, and came to Richland county with his parents, when 5 years of age. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob ALGIRE, also pioneers of Richland county. He was a highly respected Christian gentleman, a kind and loving husband and father, beloved by all who knew him. His illness was due to old age. He had been failing in health for the past six months, was confined to his bed about 3 months, and with the Christian faith he murmered not. He was a member of the First English Lutheran church at Woodbury for many years, having given his heart to God in early manhood. For years he lived on a farm north of Mansfield and of late has resided in the village of Lexington. Mr. ALGIRE was married twice, his first wife being Nancy THUMA. Three daughters came to bless their union and when the youngest was but an infant the mother died. The eldest, Mrs. Sarah ZINK of Sturges Mich., Mrs. Mary C. MOYER, of Mansfield, Mrs. Minerva MEDSKER, of Chicago survive him. He also leaves a widow, three sons and three daughters, Mrs. Ellen HOWARD, Kendalville, Ind., Mrs. Loie DEFFENBAUGH, of Mansfield, Mrs. Emma FISHER, Lexington, W.E. of Cleveland, Samuel, Wolcottville, Ind., J.C., Los Angeles, Cal. Also a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, William of Bellville, Samuel of Mansfield, Mrs. Mary HERSHISER, Mansfield, and Mrs. Elmira BLACK, ??ogoryville, who morn his loss. Funeral services were held by Rev. McQueen of the Presbyterian church at Lexington.
