Tuesday -- Ferdinand Mumford of Shenandoah shot himself at his home there yesterday. Mumford was ill with consumption and desired to hasten the end. He died in a few hours after committing the deed.
Later in the same paper ...
ADARIO -- Several from here attended the funeral of Mr. Mumford at the Bethel Church Friday. Mr. Mumford's home was at L. Culler's and he was a victim of consumption. His death occurred Wednesday afternoon, hastened no doubt by the attempt made to take his own life early Wednesday morning, by shooting himself in the right side of the head. He was well respected and had many friends who regret his death. He was 25 years of age.
