Sylvester Brown

Sylvester Brown died at his home, 102 South Foster Street, at 5 p.m., Saturday, of stomach trouble.  He had been ill for almost six weeks but had been confined to his room but a few days.  His age was 50 years.  Sylvester Brown was the son of Mr. & Mrs. William Brown and was born near Hayesville in Ashland County.  He served during the Civil War and was a member of Company E, 2nd. Ohio Heavy Artillery.  He came from Perrysville to this city with his family in March, 1894.

Deceased leaves a wife and two children, Arthur J. Brown, city editor of the SHIELD and Miss Edna Brown, aged 9.

Services were held at the residence Monday morning, and interment was made at Perrysville.

Monday -- The funeral services of Sylvester Brown, whose death occurred Saturday, was held at his late residence, 102 South Foster Street at 9:30 o'clock this morning.  The services were conducted by the Rev. Duston Kemble.  At the conclusion of the services, the remains were removed to the Pennsylvania depot.  The pall bearers were:  Capt. W.S. Bradford, John Powers, Richard Wharf, Ephraim Hunt, Roland N. Pittinger and George Hart.  At 11:15 a.m. the body was taken to Perrysville where the deceased formerly lived.  The interment was made there this afternoon.
