Bernard Wolff

Bernard Wolff died at his home on Marion Avenue Sunday at 11:15 a.m., aged about 70 years.  He had been confined to his bed for a week.  Mr. Wolff was one of the oldest citizens of Mansfield.  He had been a resident of this city since 1850.  The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m.  Rev. D.J. Meese will conduct the services.

Bernard Wolff was born in Chambersburg, Pa., Apr. 17, 1827.  He learned the trade of carpentering.  In 1849 he was married to Miss Jane McCleary of Chambersburg.  In 1850 Mr. & Mrs. Wolff took up their residence n this city.  Mrs. Wolff died in 1875.  In 1877, Mr. Wolff was married to Miss McClinchey, of Plymouth, who survives her husband.  Three children were born to Mr. & Mrs. Woff:  William, Fred and Daniel, all of whom are living.

Mr. Wolff had been prominently connected with the growth and prosperity of Mansfield.  He was the owner and builder of the Sherman House building at the corner of Diamond and East Fourth Streets, which was erected in 1870.  Mr. Wolff had also been the contractor and builder of many of the larger edifices of this city, also the passenger and freight depots at Orrville.  Three sisters and a brother survive him.  They are Mrs. T.S. Weatherby, of Wood Street, and Mrs. George Spiser, of Howard Street, this city;  Mrs. John Hoch and Adam Wolff of Chambersburg, Pa.
