Bellville -- The death of Daisy B. Conley, which occurred at this place, Sunday, the 28th. inst., is an event which has called forth an expression of sympathy from all those familiar with the circumstances preceding, and to a certain extent, at least, responsible for her untimely death.
The disease, as a result of which death is said to have occurred, was consumption. While it is true that the deceased was afflicted with the complaint mentioned, and would in any event have been compelled eventually to succumb to its ravages; yet it is nevertheless thought to be true that death was in a measure hastened by the ill-treatment, exposure, and other inconveniences and unhealthful conditions incident to the brief and miserable portion of her life in which she sustained the relation of wife to George Stofer, a citizen of this place, of whose deportment in general, and especially his conduct as a husband, it were better for him that nothing be said.
The deceased was born in this place Dec. 2nd., 1877, and died at the home of her parents, as stated above, April 28th., 1895. Her married occurred the 12th. of last November, and was a piece of youthful folly strenuously but ineffectually opposed by her parents.
It is seldom, indeed, that criticism as severe as the foregoing of an obituary, or account of a death; but in the present instance, we are fully assured that the circumstances justify all and a great deal more than has been said.
The funeral took place from the late home Monday, the 29th. inst., and was largely attended. The services were conducted by Rev. Deeds, of the M.E. church. Interment in the Bellville Cemetery.
